The first president of the Kingston Horticultural Society was the Baron de Longueil, who owned Wolfe Island…yes, that was a long time ago. The Daily News in 1856 reports that the first KHS horticultural show was held that summer, on July 2, at City Hall, with music from the officers of Her Majesty’s 9th Regiment Band.
