When we last met in March, we had the pleasure of watching our resident expert, Ann Levison, prepare numerous styles of flower arrangements, both to prepare for the April show, and in general to decorate at home. There was much interest from the attendees who had numerous questions and suggestions.

With the cancellation of the spring meetings, how can we preserve this momentum?

We would like to invite all interested members to prepare a flower design at home, take a picture, and send it to the society email. There will be no judging, but photos will be posted on the GK website and Facebook page.

Rules:

  1. Use any design you like, look in the OJES book or online for ideas, including a video on the GK website. If you are a beginner, keep it simple, using ideas and techniques from our March presentation.
  2. Use only materials from your home: that’s the tricky part, you should not go shopping for flowers. Maybe you have dried flowers or seed pods, remnants from the fall? Maybe you can use delicate spring flowers from your garden, since you can make the arrangement and take a picture right away. Think of structures, vases, decorations… but still no plastic plants allowed!
  3. Write your name and the date on a card or piece of paper, place it in front of your creation, and take a photo. Email this photo to kingstonhortsoc@gmail.com
  4. Submit any time, more than once even, but no later than May 31st.
  5. Have fun!
